Enhancing intellectual capability with the aim of becoming a leader in science and statistics
Utilising technology in a successful manner for the purposes of advance computations, large-scale processing, as well as allowing the general public to access information
Utilising logistics for the distribution of (forwarding and reverse) logistics. These logistics apply to both large-scale field operational and strategic choices relating to cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency
Gaining an understanding and competency in the political environment without being politicised or political.
Gaining administrative competency
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Location: South Africa (nationwide)

Stats SA is offering candidates the opportunity to register on their database for various contract employment opportunities. With Stats SA, candidates will participate in various surveys and projects such as Community Surveys, General Household Surveys, Census and Labour Force Surveys (just to name a few.) The Stats SA database is used to identify potential candidates for various contract positions as and when needed.

Candidates will receive an employment contract when opportunities arise and this contract will state the duration, content of the job, remuneration, and any other terms and conditions. Upon employment, the candidate will also receive work tools, if needed and will be paid once the tools have been returned.
 

Areas of work and available opportunities for contract employment usually are as follows:

Area of Work: Field Work/ Data Collection
Duties: Collecting information from households, by going door to door

Area of Work: Data Capturing
Duties: Capturing Information

Area of Work: Data Processing
Duties: Ensuring quality forms/ documents are sorted, coded, and checked

Area of Work: Clerical and Administrative
Duties: General administrative/ non-administrative duties

Area of Work: Supervisory
Duties: Providing supervision to any of the above categories as required
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
General requirements:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • Must have completed Matric or equivalent
  • Must be fluent in any of the 11 official languages of South Africa
  • Must be willing to work weekends and irregular hours
  • Must NOT have a criminal record

Field-specific requirements:
Fieldwork/ Data Collection:

  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have a valid Driver's licence (advantageous)
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to use a mobile device

Data Capturing:

  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Must be able to capture data with at least 95% accuracy

Data Processing:

  • Must be computer literate

Clerical and Administrative:

  • Must have relevant administrative skills
  • Must be computer literate

Supervisory:

  • Must have experience within supervision
  • Must have a valid Driver's licence (if applicable)
  • Must be able to use a mobile device

  • No transportation will be provided to candidates
