The South African Police Service (SAPS) is the national Police service of the country. With over 1154 police stations across the country, SAPS ensures that safety, security and lawfulness is followed in the country and in accordance to the Constitution.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: South Africa (all provinces)
Duration: 12 months
Pay/ Stipend: Will be determined based on qualification by the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA)

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering unemployed graduates a Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL) Internship opportunity as part of the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Studying crimes and the cause of crime within the stations boundaries
  • Studying the effects and impact of the crime around the area
  • Studying and analysing data to hypothesise why the crime was committed and find ways to predict, detect and prevent any future criminal behaviour

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • Education: must have completed Matric (NSC) or equivalent (NCV level 4)
  • Must have completed an NQF-6 or Higher in Criminology1, 2 and 3/ Expert in the scientific study of crime/ criminals
  • Other Qualifications: must have completed Module/ Course in Data Analysis (advantageous)
  • For the graduate intern position, a tertiary qualification is required
  • Must be 18 to 35 years-old
  • Must NOT have a criminal record or any pending cases
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must NOT have previously been employed in the advertised field
  • Must have NOT participated in another internship programme that is related to the advertised field/ post
  • Must be residing in the advertised provinces
