Salary/ stipend: depends on experience and qualifications held:
- WIL & less than 2 years qualification: R2 192.89 per month
- 2 year qualification: R3 556.05 per month
- National Diploma / B degree: R4 445.09 per month
- Postgraduate Diploma / Honours: R5 185.94 per month
- Master’s degree: R6 667.67 per month

EThekwini Municipality is offering Internships/ Inservice Training/ Work Integrated Learning (WIL)/ Work Experience positions in various fields of the government (Administration / Agriculture, Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies / Life Science / Engineering and Built Environment / Management / Health Sciences / Law / Art and Design / Humanities / Finance and Economics). Positions will report to the Project Manager.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Education requirement:
    • 1) Administration programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Admin / Business Management / Disaster Management / Office Management and Technology, Public Administration, Public Management.
    • 2) Agriculture, Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Agriculture / Agriculture Extension / Arc GIS Competency / Archaeology / Computer Science BSc / Ecological Sciences / Environmental Management / Environmental Science / Geographical Information Systems / Geography / Horticulture / Journalism / Media Studies / Natural Sciences / Nature Conservation / Waste Management.
    • 3) Life Science programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Analytical Chemistry / Biotech / Biomedical Technology / Microbiology.
    • 4) Engineering and Built Environment programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Auto Electrician / Building / Built Environment / Chemical Engineering / Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Electrical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Operation Management / Process Instrumentation / Quantity Surveying / Shipping and Logistics / Town Planning.
    • 5) Management programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Catering / Culinary / Communication Studies / Digital Marketing / Events / Food & Beverages / Hospitality / Human Resources / Industrial Psychology / Information Technology / Leisure Science / Logistics Management / Management / Marketing / Operations Management / Project Management / Project Risk / Public Relations / Quality Management / Risk Management / Safety Management / Sports Management / Supply Chain Management / Tourism.
    • 6) Health Sciences programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Environmental Health / Enrolled Nursing / Nursing Science.
    • 7) Law programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Forensic Auditing / Internal Auditing / Investigations / LLB / Research / Research and Statistics.
    • 8) Art and Design programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Architectural Design / Dramatic Arts / Film and TV Production / Fashion Design / Fine Art / Graphic Design / Language Practice / Photography / Video Technology.
    • 9) Humanities programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Anthropology / Archeology / Community Development / Development Studies / History / International Relations / Political Science / Psychology / Public Policy or Policy Development / Social Work / Social Sciences / Sociology / Training and Development.
    • 10) Finance and Economics programme: must have completed a tertiary qualification in any of these fields: Accounting / BCOM Studies / Commerce related studies / Economics / Financial Management / Insurance.
  • Must have completed one of the above tertiary qualifications and require 18 months of work integrated learning in the field of: Administration / Agriculture, Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies / Life Science / Engineering and Built Environment / Management / Health Sciences / Law / Art and Design / Humanities / Finance and Economics
  • Candidates who have previously applied must reapply
  • Candidates who have previously taken part in Government or the private sector Internships, In-service training,WIL Programme or Work Experience for more than 12 months may NOT apply
