ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) is a statutory body established by the Medical Schemes Act (131 of 1998). The purpose of the Scheme is to provide regulatory supervision of private health financing through medical schemes.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Centurion, Gauteng
Contract term: 12 months
Salary: Market Related monthly stipend

The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) is inviting unemployed graduates to join the Graduate Internship Programme. There are 3 internship positions available for students with appropriate qualifications who are looking to gain work-related experience.

1) Risk Management Internship:
Key performance areas:

  • Assisting with daily administration work, related to Risk Management
  • Assisting with updating risk registers and compiling compliance reports
  • Assisting with Risk Management and Compliance Management function (including: monitoring effective implementation of policies and guidelines, development and management of risk and compliance plans/ registers, tracking and monitoring of key risk indicators, controls and action plans)
  • Assisting in Risk Administration in line with the Executive Manager: Office of the CE & Administration's work
  • Performing other responsibilities as requested (including minute taking, report writing and other ad-hoc duties)

2) Human Resources Internship:
Key performance areas:

  • Assisting with daily HR administration functions
  • Supporting the People and Business Solutions team to deliver Personnel/ Human Resources/ Industrial Relations/ Labour Law and Organisational Design solutions to customers

3) Supply Chain Management Internship:
Key performance areas:

  • Assisting with daily administration of SCM function
  • Assisting the SCM team with preparing Internal and External Audits
  • Assisting with electronic and physical filling of SCM documents (record keeping)
  • Assisting with non-critical item procurement

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
1) Risk Management Internship:

  • Must have completed a National Diploma or higher level qualification in Risk Management/ Business Administration/ Management
  • Must have very little to no working experience
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old (during the whole duration of the programme)
  • Must be from a historically disadvantaged background
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Must be willing to work and excel in your field
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to interact with people from all backgrounds, at all levels
  • Must be able to build and maintain business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be able to multitask and manage many projects at once
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Must have good English writing skills
  • Must have good record-keeping skills

2) Human Resources Internship:

  • Must have completed a National Diploma or higher level qualification in Human Resource Management/ Industrial Psychology/ Industrial Relations
  • Must have very little to no working experience
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old (during the whole duration of the programme)
  • Must be from a historically disadvantaged background
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Must be willing to work and excel in your field
  • Must have good problem-solving abilities
  • Must have good organisational skills
  • Must have good time management skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be comfortable to deal with clients in difficult situations
  • Must be adaptable and resilient
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

3) Supply Chain Management Internship:

  • Must have completed a National Diploma or higher level qualification in Procurement Management/ Supply Chain Management/ Logistics
  • Must have very little to no working experience
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old (during the whole duration of the programme)
  • Must be from a historically disadvantaged background
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Must be willing to work and excel in your field
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Must have good research skills
  • Must have excellent English writing skills
  • Must have good record-keeping skills
  • Must have good negotiation skills
  • Must have good communication skills
