ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:
Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd (known as “Premier”), is a South African food manufacturer whose history dates back to 1820.
The company is headquartered in Waterfall City, Johannesburg and currently operates 3 maize mills, 7 wheat mills, 13 bakeries and various manufacturing plants across the country, whereby a wide range of sweet confectionery products, biscuits, pasta, mageu, feminine hygiene products and animal feeds is produced.
The company exports food from South Africa to other countries and owns many well-known South African household food brands.
DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMES:
Location: East London, Eastern Cape
Department: Quality Control
Premier are inviting learners pursuing their studies within the Food Technology/ related fields, to join their Food Technologist Internship programme at the 611 - Premier East London Mill.
Learners will be responsible for the following during the course of the programme:
- Technical support / Troubleshooting
- Audits
- Quality management
- Food safety
- Housekeeping
- On the job training
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
- Education requirement: must have completed Matric
- Education requirement: must be studying towards a Food Technology/ related tertiary qualification
- Must be willing to work in a high pressure environment
- Must be willing to work in a hot and noisy factory environment
- Must be willing to work 6 days a week
- Must be willing to work weekends, Public Holidays and Night Shifts (per the shift roster)
- Must be able to think analytically
- Must have strong numerical skills
- Must be results driven and have a sense of urgency for important matters
- Must be innovative and always looking to make improvements where possible
- Must be able to work in a team
- Must be proactive
- Must be able to make decisions
- Must have good communication skills
- Must have a strong sense of accountability
- Must be respectful and supportive
- Must have knowledge of legislation
- Must have knowledge of Health & Safety practices
- Must have knowledge of Quality management principles
