Officially launched in May 1998, the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) is the central communications agency in South Africa, leading development and reconstruction. The GCIS provides professional services, ensures an effective government communication system by influencing and setting standards, manage rational government messaging; communicates with the public about the policies of the government in a proactive manner, and plans achievements and programmes. The vision of the GCIS is to be the heart of excellent communication in the South African Government. The mission of GCIS is to ensure strategic government communication is delivered in an effective manner, ensuring standards are set and influenced in a positive manner, and communicating openly with the public about the government's programmes, policies, plans and achievements.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Locations: East London, Eastern Cape
Contract duration: 24 months
Pay/ stipend: R6 747.75 per month
Number of Positions Available: 8

Government Communication and Information System is offering a Graduate Internship Programme in their Eastern Cape Provincial Liaison. This programme is designed to provide 8 qualified candidates with work exposure for 2 years.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Education requirement: must have completed either of the following qualifications: SAQA recognised qualification / Diploma (NQF-6) / 3 year Degree (NQF-7) in Office Management, Public Management or Public Administration
  • Must have an understanding of financial management, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Fleet Management and Asset Management
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Must be able to communicate well (written and oral)
  • Must be able to monitor research tools effectively
  • Must be able to work well with others and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressured environment
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must have not participated in any recent programmes
