DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 36 months

BDO is offering a 3 year registered SAIT internship opportunity with the position of Junior Tax consultant in their Finance Department.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Finalising income tax
  • Calculating tax liability
  • Calculating payroll tax
  • Completing VAT returns, opinions, and registrations
  • Drafting up responses to any SARS enquiries
  • Drafting up VDP applications
  • Writing up articles
  • Drafting up tax reports and opinions
  • Demonstrating proper ethics
  • Ensuring professional conduct is performed in the tax environment
  • Writing up of tax opinions pertaining to business models and planning, tax disputes, and estate planning
  • Preparing first, second, and third provisional returns
  • Registering taxpayers
  • Finalising VAT returns, income tax, and payroll tax in private tax practices
  • Returning preparation and review
  • Drafting memorandums and creating a response to Alternative Dispute Resolutions
  • Identifying potential risks for audits on a basis that’s multi-disciplinary

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

  • Education: must be currently studying towards OR have completed a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Taxation or equivalent
  • Must have excellent knowledge of Tax Law and Legislation

  • Must be creative
  • Must be well organised
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressured environment
