DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Salary: between R3 500 and R8 329.27 (costs to company with no benefits)
Contract period: maximum 12 months

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Library and Information Services Directorate, Community Development Department are inviting youth residing within Johannesburg to apply for the internship programme. The aim of of the programme is to allow students to experience on-the-job exposure and attain academic qualifications as a pre or post requirement for academic qualifications in accordance with the increasing demands of the tertiary institution.
 

The main goal of the intern is to: provide assistance with the budget process, financial planning, revenue management, expense management, assets and liability management, procurement process in terms of Municipal Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulation and related Finance policies.

Key Learning Areas:

  • Ensuring budget preparations and resource allocation is in line with CoJ priorities.
  • Ensuring housing business plans are created and in line with MFMA and related Regulations.
  • Ensuring revenue collection is maximized and debtors accounts in arrears are minimized, to ensure the Department has sufficient resources to maintain the rental units.
  • Ensuring City of Johannesburg Assets are safe in line with MFMA and related GRAP’s standards.
  • Partake in the procurement process for service delivery in line with MFMA, Treasury Regulations and CoJ approved SCM policy.
  • Assist with achieving efficient expenditure management in line with MFMA and CoJ policies and reducing or illuminating wasteful expenditure.
  • Assist internal communications, documentation flow, approvals and supplying information to respond to inquiries or queries and improve overall service delivery.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

  • Must reside in Johannesburg
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years
  • Must have completed Matric (NSC certificate)
  • Must have completed a Finance N6 or Degree qualification
  • Must be fluent in English (reading and writing)
  • Must be able to work long hours if requested

  • Must be computer literate and be able to work in MS Office
