ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:
Rand Water is a water utility company in South Africa, responsible for supplying potable water to residents of Gauteng and various other areas in the country. Previously known as the "Rand Water Board", Rand Water is the biggest water utility on the African continent.
Rand Water draws water from various sources, it is then purified before being supplied to local municipalities, industry and mining.
DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:
Location: Rand Water Head Office: Glenvista, Johannesburg, Gauteng
Rand Water invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for their Nursing Graduate Development/ Internship Programme, to join the Rand Water Medical Aid department.
Primary duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Clinical decision making skills (instantly and on time)
- Liaising with various medical professionals to review clinical appropriateness, in accordance with clinical protocols and suitable health standards
- Approving or declining, reviewing and adjudicating clinical cases
- Assisting with clinical Underwriting of membership to limit financial risk to the scheme
- Claim adjudication process of complex clinical cases, including high cost cases, level of care and suitable treatment regimen per Legislation
- Assisting non Clinical Staff with clinical decisions, improving turnaround time and quality customer service to medical scheme beneficiaries
- Supporting IT Admin systems and planning new provision and developments, including for major projects such as take on, clinical audit, benefits and rules amendment’s for submission to the Board of Trustees (BoT) and Council for Medical Scheme (CMS) for Registration
- Constant competency skills and learning new developments on COVID-19 pandemic
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be under 35 years old (in line with NSDS III)
- Education requirement: must have completed Matric
- Education requirement: must have completed a Tertiary Qualification: Nursing Diploma in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatry and Community Health Sciences or B Cur Degree Health Sciences
- Must be a previously disadvantaged individual (ACI)
- Must have knowledge of: nursing, administration, community health, midwifery, psychiatry nursing education and or nursing administration, Health Sciences
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong co-ordination skills
- Must have excellent planning and report writing skills
- Must be computer literate
- Must have excellent numerical skills and time management skills
- Must have a positive attitude and outlook
- Must be self motivated and proactive
- Must be able a high achiever and sow resilience
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to exercise judgement
- Must be engaging and structured in Delivery
