Hello and welcome to Top Learnerships South Africa. Our aim is to find the latest learnerships, internships, apprenticeships, graduate programmes, trainee programmes and other students opportunities. We are an informational website - we provide you with all the details about these opportunities.

Firstly, let us explain what each of these programmes entail, what the requirements are and how they will benefit you!

LEARNERSHIPS

A learnership is an education and training programme, whereby students gain theoretical knowledge and practical working experience, which ultimately results in a registered qualification on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on completion of the programme.

The purpose of a learnership is that students may gain practical working experience about the daily activities of an occupation, guided by a qualified and experienced person. Students are taught how and why certain tasks are done and have the theoretical knowledge to back it up.

Learnerships are paid positions, mainly for students whose highest qualification is Matric. Learnerships are generally made up of 1200 "notional" learning hours (or 120 credits) and students will be able to use their nationally recognised qualification to find a job or pursue further studies in that specific field.

INTERNSHIPS

Internships are for students who have either completed their degree or diploma studies, or are currently studying. Internships offer students the opportunity to gain practical experience, which may be a requirement for completion of their qualification.

An internship can be paid or unpaid, but in both cases it provides the student with invaluable knowledge and practical experience within their area of study, which are generally not attainable when studying at University or College. Some of the skills you can expect to acquire with an internship programme include: understanding of the working environment, real world practical experience and a chance to build relationships with potential employers.

APPRENTICESHIPS

Apprenticeships are trade-specific programmes for practical professions including Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters, Ironworkers, Machinists and so forth. Apprenticeships provide students the chance to gain experience and skills by way of practical labour and sometimes the chance to gain an authorised qualification.

These programmes span over 3 to 4 years and oftentimes end in permanent employment on completion.

This is a great opportunity for those who wish to pursue a trade qualification and employment.
