ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Located in the University of Witwatersrand, the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a famous African-led research institute that aims to find the health problems of the continent. Wits RHI addresses many major public health concerns that affect our regions, such as HIV, vaccinology, and sexual/reproductive health. They address and manage these concerns by engaging in multi-disciplinary research, pioneering, accountable technical support and change within health services; as well as factual policy advocacy and development with stakeholders (both regional and national.)
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Locations: Parktown, Gauteng
Contract term: 6 months
Number of positions available: 2

Wits Health Consortium - RH is offering an internship position for the position of Implementation Science (BMGF Planning Grant.) The programme will run for 6 months and aims to create a suitable and open-minded environment that will encourage the effective use of HIV prevention products. This aims to maximize the impact of the products.
 

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Assisting in general administrative tasks
  • Ensuring quality data is collected, managed and maintained for operational and research purposes
  • Ensuring that you adhere to excellent Clinical Practice standards
  • Providing support to the study staff to ensure that the data is captured and the correct and appropriate monitoring and study registers (tools and logs) are used
  • Reporting to the study staff regarding any concerns and misunderstandings
  • Engaging with a cross-cutting M&E project team as well as performing follow-ups with participants
  • Ensuing creation is demanded in the field
  • Performing qualitative data analysis and collection
  • Ensuring research documents are transcribed and translated
  • Performing quantitative data management
  • Ensuring training is planned effectively and that you partake in this training

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a Degree in Social Sciences/ a scientific discipline or equivalent
  • Must have additional education/ work experience
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be willing to work closely with HIV positive/negative and vulnerable patients
  • Must have experience using NVivo software/analysis package for qualitative data analysis
  • Must have an excellent understanding of methods, research design, management and data processing
  • Must have no work experience (advantageous)
  • Must be willing to work towards deadlines and on tight schedules
  • Must be highly organised
  • Must have high attention to detail (with a primary focus on quality and innovation)
  • Must be able to prioritize work
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team
