DETAILS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME:

Location: Cape Agulhas, Western Cape
Duration: 2 years
Salary: R96 000 to R120 000

Cape Agulhas Municipality is offering a Financial Internship opportunity to suitably qualified candidates within the area. Interns will join the in-service training program funded by National Treasury and implemented according to their guideline principles.
 

Internship Functions:

  • General financial Management, with reference to the Financial Management Act 56 of 2003 as well as other legislation to the municipality
  • Expenditure management and related activities and functions
  • Income and Cash Management and related activities ad functions
  • Supply chain management and related activities and functions
  • Budget and treasury management and related activities and functions
  • Internal controls, auditing and management/ related activities and functions
  • Diverse functions and responsibilities within the municipal sphere

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a minimum 3-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma, in any of these fields: Economics, Accounting of Finance, Internal Auditing or Risk Management, Financial Accounting, I, II, III; Auditing I; Mercantile Law I; Economics I and Business Economics I; Business Management I; Local Governance I
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be computer Literacy with practical experience
  • Must be literate in at least 2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape
  • Preference will be given to candidates that resides within the Municipal area of Cape Agulhas Municipality

ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE PROGRAMME:

Cape Agulhas Municipality is a Category B (Local) Municipality situated within the Overberg District. The Municipal Area covers approximately 2411km² and includes the towns of Bredasdorp and Napier, the coastal towns of Arniston, Struisbaai, L’Agulhas and Suiderstrand and the rural settlements of Protem and Klipdale. It also includes Elim which is a private town and a vast rural area. The administrative seat of the Municipality is in Bredasdorp.

Cape Agulhas Municipality is the southernmost municipality in Africa. Its coastline is surrounded by the Atlantic and Indian oceans which meet at the most southern town in Africa, namely L’Agulhas.
