ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE INTERNSHIP:

Beginning 19-years ago in Cape Town, Footgear was established with the aim of providing high-quality and affordable shoes to South Africans.

Footgear has expanded to 160 stores throughout the country and market a number of world-famous shoe brands, such as Puma, Nike, Adidas and Converse. They believe in treating their customers like royalty and aim to continuously give them the best brands at the best prices.
 

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Locations: Midrand, Johannesburg, Gauteng (Regional Office)
Duration: 9 to 12 months

Footgear is offering a 12-month internship programme to a student/graduate to join their Regional Office team in their Employees Relations department. The ideal candidate should be an achiever with a lot of energy and drive to succeed in the business world.

Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Ensuring that the disciplinary code is being applied fairly and consistently
  • Ensuring that disciplinary documentation is checked and fully compliant
  • Saving accurate employee records on the HR system
  • Performing compliance monitoring processes, e.g. labour inspector visits
  • Calculating if the '24-hours' rule has been used by providing assistance in the inspection of casual wage usage
  • Providing assistance in the disciplining and investigation of cash variances; time and attendance; failed stock takes; communications set-up (e-mail, reports and letters)
  • Provide assistance with arranging and preparing for CCMA cases and hearings (if necessary)

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Education requirement: must have completed Matric (NSC)
  • Education requirement: must have completed a Diploma in Employee Relations/ Human Resources/ IR Qualification from any other public institution
  • Must be computer literate with excellent skills in all Microsoft Offices
  • Must have strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must be pro-active and take initiative
  • Must be able to work well in a team
  • Must have excellent conflict and problem-solving skills
  • Must have key attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and have a 'can do it' attitude
