DETAILS ABOUT THE YOUTH PROGRAMME:

Location: Free State
Duration: 12 months
Number of positions available: 33
Stipend: R2 500 per month (with training and uniforms provided)

The Free State Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, partnered with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is offering a National Youth Services Programme for the youth of the Free State, called The Youth Patriots Programme.
 

The aim of the programme is to engage the youth in service delivery aspects, to communities within the province of the Free State. The programme also aims to ensure that youth become active participants in community development and social cohension, by involving them in the areas of sport, arts, culture and heritage.

The programme will include the following duties:

  • Implementing sport, art and cultural activities in schools and the community
  • Mobilising schools and youth to join the TYPP activities within their community
  • Implementing, coordinating and supporting TYPP activities within the community
  • Maintaining relations with local community organisations and other community youth groups
  • Administering and monitoring TYPP implementation in schools and the community
  • Promoting South African National Symbols and the Constitution
  • Committing to personal development and growth

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric/ Grade 12
  • Must not be studying at the moment
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Must be fluent in English and local language
  • Must have experience in facilitation and presenting
  • Must have a background in Sport, Art and Culture
  • Must be willing to work within the Sport, Art and Culture sector
  • Must have a strong community background
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-initiator
  • Must be proactive
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be a role model to peers
  • Youth with disabilities are encouraged to apply

The NYDA is a South African-based agency established primarily to address challenges faced by the nation’s youth. The Agency was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 54 of 2008). The institution was established to be a single, unitary structure addressing youth development issues at National, Provincial and Local Government level. The Agency should be seen within the broad context of South Africa’s development dynamics.
