DETAILS ABOUT THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

Locations: Midrand, Gauteng
Duration: 12 months

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering a Supply Chain & Logistics Graduate Internship opportunity to Logistics graduates. The position will require that graduates assist in achieving operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centre incorporating functions in the following areas: Dispatch, Inventory, Mezzanine, Inbound and Outbound.
 

Roles and responsibilities of the programme:

  • Ensuring optimal route and space planning to meet the day-to-day strategic objectives.
  • Ensuring routing of vehicles to ensure optimum utilisation and vehicle turnaround times.
  • Ensuring accurate administration for transactional excellence.
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping of all stock coming in and leaving the department.
  • Maintaining stock rotation on an inventory based on FEFO (first entry, First out) principle.
  • Optimising planning and forecasting of department resources to meet the daily strategic objective defined by the number of orders in the system.
  • Conducting picking, replenishment and procurement.
  • Assisting with Outbound department planning.
  • Ensuring accurate receiving of stock within the warehouse.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have a clear MIE, clear criminal and credit record
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transport
  • Must have completed Matric/ Grade 12/ Senior Certificate
  • Must have completed a Degree in either of these fields: Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management or a related field
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of all Transport and Logistics and related distribution processes (theoretical and practical)
  • Must be fluent in English (able to read, write and speak English)
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must be trustworthy and honest
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Must be a diligent and accurate
  • Must pay close attentive to detail
  • Must be deadline orientated
  • Must have good time management skills
  • Advantageous: fluent in a second Additional language
  • Advantageous: knowledge of relevant EWM SAP warehouse management computer package

ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

Dis-Chem was formed in the year 1978 by recently qualified pharamacists, Ivan and Lynette Saltzman, when they opened their first retail pharmacy in Mondeor, Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1984 the second retail pharmacy opened at the Randridge Mall in Randburg, Johannesburg.

It wasn't until the late 1980s that Dis-Chem started expanding its offering of non-pharmaceutical products and opened a third retail pharmacy. Today, Dis-Chem prides themselves on offering healthy foods, sport supplements, health and well-being products, and beauty products.
