DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Bellville, Western Cape
Duration: 6 months (with the possibility of extension)
Stipend: R100 an hour (R6 560 month)

The Arts Association of Belville (art. b) is offering an internship opportunity for the role of Exhibition Co-Ordinator. During the programme, the candidate will learn how to take responsibility for communicating with various artists and ensuring the daily administrative duties relating to exhibitions are completed and organised.

This role is ideal for an individual looking to take the next step in their career and plummet into the arts sector. The programme is offered on a part-time basis and will require the candidate's attendance 16 hours a week (10h00 to 12h00.) The work week will be from Tuesday to Friday and require one Saturday a month.
 

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Communicating with artists via WhatsApp, email, or in-person
  • Ensuring all inventory spreadsheets for the online shop are created and checked
  • Sizing images for the online exhibition(s)
  • Staying up-to-date on the exhibition timeline
  • Ensuring each social exhibition is posted on social media
  • Uploading all new work to the website
  • Attending all monthly exhibition openings (this will be the first Saturday of each month, from 10h00 to 12h00)
  • Reporting to the Bellville Arts Association committee

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be a South African Citizen/ permanent resident
  • Must be a Fine Art student/ recent graduate OR
  • Must be a professional artist/ illustrator/ part-time professional
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • Must be a resident of Cape Town and the surrounding areas
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Must have excellent organisation and administrative skills
  • Must have previous administrative experience (advantageous)
  • Must have a professional approach to managing and communicating with artists
  • Must be passionate about visual arts
  • Must have your own, working laptop

Art. b is managed by a group of volunteers and supported by the City of Cape Town, operating as an innovative and dynamic community-orientated organisation. The mission of the organisation is to promote the arts to the community of Tygerberg, and it achieves this mission by supporting the various local talent from a variety of economical and cultural backgrounds.
